Yellow Bloods – Yellow Bloods 7” Flexi
In the late 80’s, Japan experienced what was called the “band boom”. Teenagers across the country thought “we can do that!” and picked up instruments and started bands (some great, some shite!). The affordable cost of flexi disc production meant that many of these bands released their own records, one of those bands was Yellow Bloods.
Yellow Bloods were from Kagoshima, right down in the south of Kyushu island, but I like to think they were inspired by their fellow Kyushu bands. Obviously they liked their 70’s punk but I hear bits of The Swankys, Lydia Cats, Last Child and even some of the popular beat punk of the day like Jun Sky Walkers.
It's rough around the edges and absolutely brimming with DIY charm, the sleeve describes the band as “simple straight” which is an apt description for their sound.
Will it change your life? No…
Will you enjoy it? Definitely!
These are deadstock copies from 1988 (!!!), so don’t expect pristine condition… but hey, where else can you get this kind of stuff?
Big thanks to my Nasa shirt wearing friend, Sazanami!
